Maria Vasylenko

Maria Vasylenko was born in Kyiv in 2001. She studied academic, easel, monumental, and sacred painting. Maria graduated from the Professional College of Arts and Design in 2020 and from Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Applied Arts and Design in 2022, with a degree in monumental art. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in philosophy at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She creates her works in the tradition of tempera painting on figurative boards. The main theme of her work is an attempt to look behind the screen of physical phenomena to explain the processes that take place within and around us. Maria is professionally interested in philosophy as a tool for engaging with the extra-logical experience embodied in art. Most of all, she is interested in the concept of consciousness and the very nature and mechanisms of perception.
