Geometry of Form is a joint project of Sofia Horbachevska and Tetyana Kremen. The artists' idea is to reveal the mathematical qualities of the sculptural form through various methods of working with clay.
Horbachevska uses authentic techniques to create abstract objects. Their outlines are viscous, natural, bionic, revealing the texture of the material to the maximum. Each piece has its organic character and is not intended to be replicated or reproduced.
Kremen combines the sensitivity of ceramics with the sharp geometric lines inherent in origami. These clay animal sculptures are made using the technique of paper folding borrowed from Japanese art. The plasticity of something warm and alive is combined here with the clarity of folds and creases.
"We have always had a great interest in practices that until recently were called decorative and applied arts. Ceramics, embroidery, decorative glass, weaving, and other forms are taking an increasingly prominent place in contemporary art. Our artists' exhibitions have often revealed their interest in various materials and traditional craft techniques. Today, we are pleased to host a chamber project by the artists from the Reitarska community who routinely work with clay," comment Maria Lanko and Lizaveta German.
