Sergii Sabakar is an artist and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Drawing at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. He graduated from the Sumy College of Arts and Culture named after D.S. Bortnyansky in 2001, and from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Studio of Free Graphics under Professor A. Chebykin) in 2007, where he subsequently completed a postgraduate assistantship from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, he took part in the international residency programmes LIA—Leipzig International Art Programme (Leipzig) and Villa Waldberta (Munich). In 2022, he was awarded a scholarship as part of the DAAD Encounters with Ukrainian Artists Programme. In his practice, Sabakar uses drawing as a medium for both graphic series and frame-by-frame animations. Lives and works in Kyiv.
